Fun Facts!

Finchley is a Saxon place name dating from the 13th century, with 'ley' meaning opening in woodland, and 'finch' a type of small bird.

Barnet is the second largest burough by population in London.

St. Mary-at-Finchley Church of England is a magnificent grade 2 listed building established during the 12th century CE.  It is the oldest building in Finchley!  The original architecture was Norman, but the church was largely rebuilt in 1953 after being significantly damaged during the London Blitz of 1940.  St. Mary-at-Finchley has a full octave of 8 bells in its bell-tower.  The church also has a two-manual Willis organ built by the famous Henry Willis, last restored in 2011.
